Your tasks:

In the “Qu-Test” project, PTB is working with stakeholders from various European countries on the development of test beds and on ways to perform comparison measurements and component characterizations for the emerging quantum technology industry. Your tasks in Department 8.2 (Biosignals) in cooperation with the Quantum Technology Competence Center (QTZ) will focus on optically pumped magnetometers and will include:

• Independently coordinating PTB’s participation in and contributions to Qu-Test
• Assisting project management by compiling reports and budget plans
• Coordinating an open call within Qu-Test aimed at funding some 10 additional industry partners
• Carrying out and improving test measurement series for the quantitative characterization of quantum sensors and multi-sensor systems (magnetic cameras) using the high-end measurement infrastructure at PTB (e.g. in the Berlin Magnetically Shielded Room 2)
• Supporting the establishment of a measuring facility at the Charité university hospital campus in Berlin-Mitte for clinical test series on optical magnetoencephalography
• Closely collaborating with scientists at PTB and the Charité in an interdisciplinary manner to evaluate, improve and deploy optical magnetometers (OPMs) in clinical applications, in particular for measuring neurological brain activity

Your profile:

• You have completed your university studies (master’s degree or German Diplom) in physics with an overall grade of at least “good” or the equivalent for non-German degrees and have obtained a doctor’s degree related to quantum physics or quantum technology.
• You will ideally have experience with experimental work in quantum physics or quantum technology.
• You are able to perform scientific work in an independent manner.
• You are a strong team player with excellent communication skills.
• You have a very good command of German and English, both spoken and written.
• You are willing to travel for work both in Germany and abroad.
